Mr. Bat-Mom Part One

Wait, it's not November first?

I'll be the first one to admit, I love stories of Bruce's failed attempt at domestic life. This man has been portrayed as someone who can burn a pot of water. But what if he was able to overcome his insecurities to the daily chores he thinks is part of a normal life, and step up to the plate to help his family out in their time of need?

Well, in this first Bat-chapter, we have witnessed Bruce winning the approval of Alfred and his two youngest sons, Tim and Terry as he puts his best efforts to care for them. But for the two older boys, Dick and Jason, this sudden change in their father has become their worse nightmare.

So what exactly will these two Robins do to pull Bruce out of the kitchen and back to being the Dark Knight?

Well, you’ll just have to wait for the next Bat-chapter of Mr. Bat-Mom!

(Hmm, better start working on it.)

Note: I was going to do this story first before Rivalry but of course, I changed my mind. So for me, I still think of this story taking place before JLA/JSA Family Gathering. If you want to think that way too, that's fine with me. :)

Right from the Bat-kitchen... Icons!

Oh. Bruce. OH BRUCE.

Thansks! I needed that!
Oct. 17th, 2009 06:18 am (UTC)
hahah the toilet seat
Tim is always so delighted by everything. Even housework. It just makes my month. Bruce needs to buy him a little pink apron with his initials stitched on it.

I love the look of conspiratorial pride on Bruce's face when he say's 'thanks, Alfred' out of the side of his mouth, haha. He's so damn pleased with himself for actually raising his children for a day.

These are cute and hilarious and wonderful as always.

I'm so taking some of these icons with me.

YES YES YES. I truly think that this is the best one yet, and I love them ALL.

I absolutely cackled at Barry being Alfred's secret weapon and "You can't stop me, Clark!" BWAHAHAHA.

I salute your dedication to awesome.

Ma Hunkle as the JLA's nursery school teacher is the BEST.

Terry and Timmy loving their new domestic Bat-Dad is wonderful (the clinging to his legs is spot-on) as is Dick and Jason's rebelling! And Alfred's secret domestic weapon makes a LOT of sense, as does his method of payment.

But Bat-duckie beats all! (He knows the WORDS to the Sesame Street classic? Batman just went up a notch in my estimation!)

Perhaps he came across the Rubber Duckie song while studying "Bathing Children."

Either that, or Alfred taught it to him...

BWAH! Excellent job!
Oct. 17th, 2009 08:34 am (UTC)
simply wonderful as usual. Some moments were really too funny for words... And the bat duck should be trademarketed and put on sale... Surely I'd buy one ^__^

I love you and would like to have a thousand of your babies. If I was the supreme ruler of the universe I would pay you for these in Bat-Bath-Duckies. For they are glorious.

Utterly brilliant! My favorite panel I think was the "where does milk come from" one, but it had lots of fabulous competition. I'm just amazed at how good this is, both from a story and artistic POV. Thanks for making my morning!
Oct. 17th, 2009 12:15 pm (UTC)
Love this so much. Timmy is so adorable, and poor Dick and Jason having to wash all the cars, best of all though . . .

Oh man. If I were pressed to choose a favorite part, it would be the Ma Hunkel cameo. But since I'm not being pressed, it;s all my favorite. Hooray!
Oct. 17th, 2009 02:36 pm (UTC)
Dammit, now I want a bat-duckie.

Oct. 17th, 2009 06:04 pm (UTC)
I loved Dick standing buried in the snow, still being all, 'He's coming, he promised!'

This was one of the best series ever. More soon!
Oct. 17th, 2009 06:06 pm (UTC)
Terrific work as usual.

I count six flashbacks (including Dick's possibly imaginary idea of Dad's eating habits), and I got lost in one on first reading. Which led me to wondering about how I'm used to seeing flashbacks, which led me to this essay on "narrative separation", which was another half hour wasted enjoyably.
Oct. 17th, 2009 06:26 pm (UTC)
This is so magical. I can't stop giggling in sheer delight.
Oct. 17th, 2009 06:55 pm (UTC)

This is ADORABLE and HILARIOUS at the same time.

And I love it.

(And I'm giggling extra hard because of 'Mr. Mom' and Michael Keaton and all of that. Hee.)
Oct. 19th, 2009 02:54 am (UTC)
This is hilarious and awesome. There are a dozen individual moments and images in this that made me laugh loudly.
Oct. 19th, 2009 02:56 am (UTC)
You have answered one of my oldest questions - how does Alfred clean the damn manor. Thank you so much.

This was so awesome, and so long! Thank you a million times for continuing to do this. <3
Oct. 19th, 2009 08:14 am (UTC)
Oh my god, I LOVE your stories!!!!

It's so much better et funiest that "Tiny Titans" !!!
Oct. 24th, 2009 11:04 am (UTC)
I love you so much! Just... all the little details like the Bat-duckie! And the instructions on the vacuum cleaner! And Bruce trying to go on patrol with two broken legs, with Clark carrying him away from the Batmobile still clinging to the steering wheel and part of the dashboard!

I especially love the moment of Bruce's pancakes revelation - There are instructions, ergo it's just like science! I can do this!
Oct. 27th, 2009 02:59 pm (UTC)
"Wax on, wax off..." HAHA I love it!! I think this was fantastic! It was so much fun seeing a side of Bruce we never see.
Dec. 7th, 2009 04:53 pm (UTC)

Late Comment Is Late
Hi, I'm a new reader who just got recced this webcomic by a friend. It is pretty much the essence of adorable, so if it's okay, I'd like to snag some of your icons (with credit, of course). If you don't mind, I'd also like to friend your journal so that I can keep track of updates...?
